FAQ
What is a home podiatry visit like?
We know it can feel a bit uncertain inviting someone into your home for care, so here’s a quick look at how a Footwise Home Podiatry visit works step by step:
- When you book with us, we’ll give you a 2-hour arrival window so our podiatrists have time to travel.
- We arrive at your door, with a friendly smile and all the equipment we need.
- We take a moment to chat getting to know you, your concerns, and your medical history.
- Your podiatrist sets up a clean, safe space (often in the lounge or dining area).
- We provide gentle, professional care whether it’s nail trimming, corn/callus removal, foot pain support, or orthotics advice.
- We clean up, pack away, and leave everything just as we found it.
It’s relaxed, respectful, and designed to make looking after your feet easy.
What’s the difference between a podiatry home visit and a clinic appointment?
- Convenience: No need to drive, park or wait in a medical clinic. We come to you!
- Same professional care: Whether at home or in a clinic, our podiatrists provide the same high-quality treatment.
- Fully equipped: We bring all the tools we need for your treatment i.e. nail care, callus removal, foot pain support, and more. However, if surgical intervention is needed for treatment, the clinical setting will be required.
- Comfort: Sit back and relax in your favourite chair while we take care of your feet. Home visits are ideal for those with mobility or transport challenges, especially helpful for seniors, carers, and anyone recovering at home.
Do you accept Private Health Insurance rebates?
Yes we do, and we make it easy with on-the-spot HICAPS claiming for private health rebates. Simply swipe your card, claim instantly, and relax at home. No extra paperwork required and no worries!
I have a Support at Home Package, how can I get home podiatry visits?
Footwise Home Podiatry provides Support at Home clients with trusted, in-home podiatry throughout metropolitan Adelaide with no out-of-pocket costs for approved services.
How it works:
- Check your plan. Talk to your Support at Home Coordinator or Case Manager to see if podiatry is included in your plan. Most packages include allied health like podiatry to help you stay safe and independent at home.
- Request Footwise Home Podiatry. Let your Support at Home Coordinator or Case Manager know you’d like Footwise Home Podiatry to be your podiatry provider. Our contact details can be found here.
- Approval and payment. Your Support at Home Coordinator or Case Manager approves the visits and takes care of payment directly with us. No upfront payment or paperwork is required from you.
- We come to you. Our experienced podiatrists visit you at home at a time that suits you. No travel, no waiting rooms, just professional foot care in the comfort and safety of your own home.
How Do Health Rebates Work for Home Podiatry?
We know rebates and referrals can get confusing, so here’s a quick guide to how it works at Footwise Home Podiatry.
- Private Health Insurance: If you have extras cover for podiatry, we’ll swipe your card during the visit so you can claim instantly with your fund.
- Medicare (Enhanced Primary Care (EPC) Referral / Chronic Disease Management (CDM)): If your GP has set up a care plan (EPC/GPMP/CDM), you may be eligible for up to 5 subsidised visits per year. After paying the fee during the visit, we’ll submit the Medicare rebate for you and you’ll receive your rebate after 1-2 days.
- DVA Gold or White Card: There’s no out-of-pocket cost for DVA Gold Card clients, and also for DVA White Card clients with a podiatry referral from your GP.
- NDIS (Self-Managed or Plan-Managed): We work with both! We’ll send you or your plan manager an invoice to claim the visit expense from your NDIS funds. No out-of-pocket costs for approved services.
- Support at Home (SAH): We work with various providers and can invoice your Care Coordinator or Case Manager directly. No out-of-pocket costs for approved services.
Not sure what you’re eligible for? Just ask, we’re happy to help!
Do I Need Orthotics?
If you’ve ever wondered whether orthotics could help you, you’re not alone! Orthotics are custom foot supports that fit into your shoes and they can make a big difference in your comfort, mobility, and overall foot health.
Here are some signs you might benefit from orthotics:
- Ongoing foot, heel, or arch pain
- Sore knees, hips, or lower back when walking or standing
- Flat feet or high arches
- You feel unstable or off-balance when walking
- Foot fatigue after short periods of standing
At Footwise Home Podiatry, we assess your feet and walking style right in the comfort of your home and, if needed, we’ll recommend the right orthotics to support you.
